  • Three senior poodles in California need a new lease on life.

So sad. I hope someone can adopt these three together and let them live the rest of their lives in as much comfort as possible.

    FROM A SHELTER VOLUNTEER:

They are sweet and docile, but they behave as though they have spent most of their lives in crates.

We took them into the yard and they were so wobbly on their little legs, like they weren’t used to walking. Some of the toe nails must have been 1-1/2 inches long. None of us had ever seen such long toe nails before. They huddle together all the time – so we put a bed into the yard with them, and they all climbed into the bed and wanted to stay there – it was almost like they were in a lifeboat.

According to the medical staff, they all have the same geriatric problems – cataracts, dental, minor skin issues, possible hearing loss. I asked if they would break it down between dogs, and they said it was the same for each.

So very sadly, I was informed (after I started writing this email) that the largest of the four poodles, who seemed older and we thought possibly to be the mother of the other three, passed in her sleep. She had an enormous hernia or tumor the size of a baseball and appeared to be in a great deal of discomfort, she was suffering (:

The info on the three surviving poodles is :

    A1279487 – 12 years old, female, 6-lbs
    A1279490 – 12 years old, female, 6-lbs
    A1279491 – 12 years old, neutered male, 4-lbs
AT HARBOR ANIMAL SHELTER 888-452-7381: A1279487 – 12 years old, female, 6-lbs A1279490 – 12 years old, female, 6-lbs A1279491 – 12 years old, neutered male, 4-lbs 4 caged and neglected Toy Poodles were turned into Harbor, these 3 survived, the possible mother of these 3 was found dead in their shelter bed Tuesday night. They were turned in as strays by a man. They couldn’t walk- so they weren’t strays- their nails were over an inch long. They were his and he lied. They need a miracle. I met them all yesterday and they are lovely. They deserve a life of love, free of cages.

  • UVB Bulbs

    Hey everyone,

I have been reading some post about compact UV B lamps. From what I understand, 10.0 UV B have been proven to be bad for the little guys eye’s by releasing bad/lowest end of the UV B spectrum. However is this true for all the different levels of power (2.0 or 5.0).

    Thanks,

    Jake

  • SUN!!! NOOOO!!!!!

So the weather in El Paso TX is getting warm enough in the sunny areas to be 80′ish… So I bring my yearling… +4months out in the sun… first reaction is… OMG!! RUN to the shade!!! at a turtle pace. So the question arises… young redfoots dont like sun, so obviously dont want UVB? Id this noticed in the wild? I know they are shy when young, but some say to use UVB bulbs in the tank, when obviously mine runs like a vampire lol. This is not the first time he has done this either.. Just when I decided to share the experience

I have also never seen him bask or soak.

On a totally different note… he is infatuated with my dogs’ feces… if there is greens or fruit anywhere near the log, he goes for the log like flies on ! =) sorry I had to

    Hello All,

I took some pics of my new TTBT. I am calling her/him Lefty for now since I can’t decide on a name. He/she has a few injuries. Also, this turtle is a RESCUE.

Please let me know what you think, any advice is welcomed, and if you reckon a gender. Beak needs trimmed I know, but how bad is it?

The eye is gone as you can see, there is no bump its flush with the face Sad, and i did a closeup on the hole someone drilled into herSad.and her shell is sort of flaky, need advice on that as well

Can you see them hiding under the snow ?

Look carefully and you will find them, one after the other, there should be at least eight or ten of them in this picture…
